
Rome, June 15 (SUNA)- Headed by The Acting Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Abubaker Omer Al-Bushra, Sudan delegation is participating in the meetings of 170th session of the council of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which started yesterday (Tuesday) and will last for three days. The meetings will review the situation of food and agriculture around the world, besides ways to unify the international efforts to accelerate changing food system, as well as discussing strategies of FAO concerning the climate change, science and innovation, in addition to shedding lights on the impact of covid-19 and the Russian- Ukrainian conflict on food security. On his part, the acting Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Abubaker Omer Al-Bushra, has praised the efforts being exerted by FAO regarding the international food security, lauding FAO regional office’s efforts in Khartoum and its working alongside the government to develop and apply the agricultural transformation policies
The Minister affirmed Sudan’s cooperation and support to all efforts on finding world hunger and malnutrition-free world and to work hard to improve standard of living for anyone, especially the poorest communities through economic, social and environmental sustainability.
The Minister also reviewed Sudan’s efforts in establishing especial tracks regarding the food system, stressing Sudan’s commitment to develop a balanced, fair and sustainable food for everyone, as well as Sudan’s willingness to implement programs and projects that aim to reduce the amount of malnutrition in its all forms, besides enhancing the capabilities of disasters management, enhancing hunger combat programs, giving concern to small-scale farmers and producers and funding poor families , calling on FAO to stand alongside Sudan and provide more assistances in order to develop the fragile agricultural communties and support them with modern technologies so as to help them to build capabilities to confront negative impacts of climate change.
